Lakeside Wedding | Elopement Photographer >> Elope in the Midwest

Couple Elope at a Lake Lodge in the Heart of the Midwest.

When you elope, you open the door to have an incredibly unique wedding day. Which is exactly what Paula and Wes did when they chose to have their wedding day at Camp Lakodia in South Dakota.

As an elopement photographer, I see all kinds of wedding days. But I absolutely love couples who choose to get married at a lake lodge. It’s so chill and relaxing and you have everything all in one location. This is a wedding venue that  has the reception location, lodging, and a beautiful background to elope.

Paula and Wes each got ready in their own cabins. Paula in the main cabin and Wes in one of the smaller cabins down the road. While getting ready for the day, they spent all morning with their bridal party and family and of course their dog, Micah. Micah, their australian shepherd (the goodest girl) ran back and forth between the cabins to see both mom and dad throughout the day. She loved every minute.

Micah even got to be a part of Wes and Paula’s first look! After their first look, we ran around the resort and took pictures right outside of the lodge, by the lake and even took our shoes off to walk on the beach.

Then, it was time for them to elope. Their elopement was short but so sweet.

Paula’s dad walked her down the aisle with Micah following them where Wes waited for them in front of the water. With the lake in the background, Paula and Wes said their vows and shared their first kiss as husband and wife. This lakefront wedding was perfect.

The rest of the night went exactly as the rest of the day went. It was relaxing. The couple was able to spend some time with everyone who attended their event, which was super important to them.

To end the day, I took Wes and Paula down to the water for their last photos of the day at sunset. I love this part of the day. We always get amazing pictures at this time, yes but there’s more to it than that.

This is my favorite part of the day because the couple gets to spend some time alone together, which I think is such an important thing to do on your wedding day.

I loved hanging out with Wes, Paula, Micah and the crew and I wish we could do this day over again!
